Whats ex Penguin Billy Guerin up to?

I came across an interesting article today in the Boston Herald. It talks about Bill Guerin and what he has been doing. As we all know, the Penguins chose not to resign Guerin for this year. It was a tough decision but one that, in my opinion, was correct. Guerin was a valuable player the past 2 seasons for the Pens and was a mentor, sort of , for Sidney Crosby. He always told things how they were and had that veteran presence in the locker room. On the ice he fared well too, posting 28 goals in 95 career games for the Penguins. He was also a key addition for the Penguins Stanley Cup title in 2009, posting 7 goals and 15 points in those playoffs. I would love to have a prime Billy Guerin on the team now, but it was becoming fairly obvious he was slowing down. This is no fault of his, afterall, he will be 40 on November 9.

After learning the Penguins would not resign him, Guerin went to Philidelphia during the preseason for a tryout. That ended when he was released Oct. 4. So now Guerin does not have a team, but he is still busy in the hockey world. The article states he is still hopeful someone will come calling and believes he has some hockey left.

So where has Guerin been spotted? According to the article, he was at the TD Garden in Boston Thursday with none other than Pittsburgh scout and official Tom Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald planned on spending a few days with Guerin to show him what the scouting business is like in case Guerin would like to choose that path.
